It was like a drama On Thursday July 3,2014,when Barrister Kunle Fadipe(pictured above) a social commentator was reportedly stabbed to death  by a man whose identity is yet be be made public at his residence at Harmony Estate near Karaole Estate, College Road in Ifako Ijaiye, Lagos, on.

 According to reports, the estate where the late barrister lived was plunged in total darkness after power outage and the lawyer asked his son to go and turn on the generator.
 As his son made his way to the generator, a man armed with a knife accosted him demanded for his Dad and ordered him to take him to his father. As soon as the man got to Mr Fadipe, he stabbed him straight in the neck and back.
His daughter who was at home immediately escaped out of the house and called for help. Two security officials attached to the estate immediately responded and were able to overpower the murderer,but Fadipe had given up the ghost.
 However,the case was reported to the police and the police has taken the killer into custody with a promise that the incident will be thoroughly investigated.
Late Mr Kunle Fadipe was a former member of the National Human Rights Commission and a member of the board of trustees of the justice advocacy group, Access to Justice.What kind of society is Nigeria? For the life of a promising and ebullient man to be truncated just lie that?

About four Nigerians including a 10year old die in horrific auto-crash in Ireland

Three Nigerian women and a 10year old Nigerian girl were killed in a horrific car crash on Saturday morning June 28th when their Nissan Almera car (pictured inside the bushes) collided with an SUV (pictured being towed) at Portnashangan, just outside of Mullingar, in Ireland, Irish Mirror reports.

All four occupants of the car, including a mother and her child, were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services and later taken to Mullingar General Hospital for post-mortem. The man driving the SUV suffered only minor injuries.
The accident victims have been identified as cousins Queen Esezbor and Fanny Oraweme Akenbor, said to bee in their 40s, and Pat Jeti and her 10-year-old daughter, Jessica.
They were said to be returning from an evangelical church vigil in the Finglas area of Dublin when the unfortunate accident occurred. May their souls rest in peace...amen.

Nollywood Director Blasts Genevieve Nnaji For Saying Nollywood Lacked Professionalism and Creativity

Nollywood star actress, Genevieve Nnaji, in an interview with Punch explained why she was rarely seen in Nollywood movies anymore. She said:

“I guess I haven’t found the right script yet. Creativity and depth are the qualities that I look out for in a script. In the beginning, the movie industry emphasised quantity but things are changing and there is an improvement in trend. I am among the people who advocate for the improvement of the industry. So said, I am constantly watching
out for the kind of stories I take part in. I am in support of movies that show a great deal of professionalism and creativity. APC Strike Again, Accuse Fani-Kayode Of Distorting Facts And Threatens To Expose Him

Following an emotional response by former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode to a statement by the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party has once again accused him of lying and distorting facts.

In a statement released in Abuja on Wednesday by APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said Fani-Kayode was distorting facts to reach a prepossessed conclusion on the party’s comments concerning the proscription of Boko Haram by the Federal Government, adding that his response repudiated everything he ever said he stood for.

The party said his response failed to wash off the thick mud he splashed on himself when he returned to his vomit and made himself a tool, used for criticising the opposition, Vanguard reports.

Describing Fani-Kayode as a Janus-faced, brassy personality who stands for nothing and will fall for anything, the party said they would expose him for who he truly is, adding that they would not engage in brickbats with him but simply set the record straight for the sake of posterity.

The statement reads in part: “On June 9th 2013, the ACN issued a statement in which it said in the opening paragraph ‘The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has said that the recent proscription order against Boko Haram and Ansaru, desirable as it may be in tackling the terrorist organisations, violates the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by stifling the press and tampering with the fundamental human rights of Nigerians.

“Any person, especially one who supposedly had the benefit of a sound education, who interprets this statement as a condemnation of the proscription itself is either acting out of deliberate mischief or has failed to take advantage of his good education, perhaps in a desperation to escape justice at all cost.”

Fani Kayode, while speaking on Channels TV’s breakfast show, Sunrise Daily, had claimed that Boko Haram was the armed wing of the APC and its leaders of being supportive and sympathetic of the dreaded sect.

The APC, who disowned Femi-Fani Kayode as a member earlier in June 2014, had asked him to retract his comment or face a legal action.

However, the former Aviation Minister had replied that he would not apologise and “hell will freeze over” before he issues Lai Mohammed or the APC any type of apology for what he said, adding that he looked forward to seeing them in court.

Femi Fani Kayode releases another statement which he says is his final response to Lai Mohammed and the APC's latest response to him. See below...

"I read the second response of Lai Mohammed and the APC to my comments which appeared in yesterday's newspapers. Does this so-called spokesman for Nigeria's opposition party have nothing better to do than to join issues with me on a daily basis? It is reinvigorating and humbling to note that Nigeria's main opposition party can dedicate and deploy so much time and so many resources just to tackle me. I shall ignore the childish name-calling coming from a supposedly serious-minded political party that is looking for power. One wonders what you would do to your perceived enemies if, God-forbid, you ever get that power. 

Needless to say your belated explanations and attempted rationalisations about what you said last year about the Government's proscription of Boko Haram and your opposition to it makes no sense. It changes nothing. I repeat you are a pernicious liar and a shameless coward and your party is filled with such people. The truth is that you are not fit to hold power. Permit me to reiterate that I am not shying away from anything that I said in my interview with Channels TV on June 30th and if you think that I am doing so you are sadly mistaken. I look forward to meeting you in court so that I can prove to the world who and what you and your party really are and the pure evil that you represent. Listen to me carefully: I am calling your bluff so for goodness sake instead of writing long and laborious press statements just shut up, stop blabbing, put your money where your mouth is, do your worse and let us meet in court.

NFF Offers Stephen Keshi A Two-Year Deal

The head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi, has been offered a new two-year deal by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, theeagleonline.com.ng reports.

According to the report, the new deal is expected to worth nothing less than N168 million, while Keshi’s monthly salary would also be increased to N7million for Keshi to remain at his post.

Prior to Nigeria’s exit from the ongoing 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Keshi was being paid a monthly salary of N5 million.

However, the 0-2 defeat to the Les Blues of France in the round of 16 of the world cup ended Keshi’s contract with the NFF.

It was gathered that the Nigerian football governing body decided to offer Keshi an improved deal amid confusion over the status of his employment.

Some reports had claimed that Keshi, who is yet to append his signature to the new deal, complained about the clauses contained in the new contract papers.

Speaking with theeagleonline.com.ng on the matter, Keshi stated that part of what he would demand before he accepts the new offer is for the NFF to provide him with an official accommodation and a car to function.

“So, there is no reason resigning from the job.

“However, we are yet to agree a new contract.

“So I remain a free agent until otherwise,” Keshi added.

It could be recalled that the Nigerian coach was reported to have resigned after the defeat against France.



Few hours after the report, Keshi denied the rumours on his twitter account, saying coaches don’t resign their appointment on the pages of the newspapers.

The NFF had released a statement afterwards saying Keshi still remains the Super Eagles coach, adding that it would not hold him if he decides to quit his job and move on.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s captain to the Mundial, Joseph Yobo has since announced his decision to retire from the national team after over a decade of illustrious career for the country.

Goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and Osaze Odemwingie are being rumoured to be considering to retire too.

The election of Victor Edoror as the deputy speaker was sequel to a motion moved by Bamidele Oloruntoba, representing Akoko- Edo constituency 1 and seconded by Sunday Osazemwinde representing Ovia North East constituency 1.

Until late last year when Edoror defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC Ebea was the only APC lawmaker from Edo Central Senatorial District.

The impeachment of the suspended deputy speaker was sequel to a motion moved by Foly Ogedengbe, chief whip of the house representing Owan East and seconded by Patrick Asowerien representing Orhionmwon constituency 1.

They accused the suspended Deputy Speaker of gross misconduct and allegedly forceful breaking into the hallowed chambers to take over the office of the Speaker Uyi Igbe, alleged “high handedness and ”.
