L-R: Representative of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Commodore Hycenth Ezeh, President, National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), Mr Balami David, Chairman of the occasion, Capt. Bayo Araba
National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) has said that for the aviation sector to move forward, there was need for a committee to be set up to tackle the problems that have marred the industry.
The national president, NAAPE, Mr David Balami, at the Aviation Stakeholder Forum in Lagos, said that lack of equipment and
technology, poor policies, lack of adequate technical staff training, lack of certified airport and the airport being dominated by foreigners, amongst others, are the issues faced by the aviation industry.
He said that it was strange that the government allows foreign airlines to land at five airports which include Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Port Harcourt International Airport, Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, when other countries, like Brazil, only allow one or two airports for foreign airlines, adding that if the industry must go forward, the outcome for the forum needs to be implemented.
